At Alliance Flooring, a Flooring Store in Phoenix, we know that when the right carpet is installed correctly, it means high appearance level, resistance to wear-and-tear, and longevity. Whether the classic beauty of broadloom or the modern benefits of modular tile, carpet offers a huge range of fashion options in colors and textures — and is warm, soft, reduces noise, and has safety features.
We love hard surface flooring for its beauty, elegance, and longevity — remembering that it is hard underfoot, often cold, and heavy, requiring a strong, well-built, and even subfloor. Many hard surface floors can be expensive and time consuming to maintain. But still, the most beautiful and the oldest floors are famous throughout history: hardwood, polished stone, ceramic tile ... which to choose?
Classically beautiful, today’s hardwood floors are more affordable and durable than ever. That’s because manufacturers of prefinished wood floors have developed finishes with long-term abrasive wear resistance and stain and spill protection — and advanced techniques to quickly apply these finishes right at the factory. Using ultraviolet light to cure finishes allows several coats to be applied within minutes. Some finish manufacturers add small chips of aluminum oxide, dramatically increasing the life of the finish.
Vinyl flooring, as vinyl composition tile (VCT) or sheet vinyl, is offered in a wide array of colors, is extremely versatile, and, if you choose tiles, spares can replace worn or damaged areas.
While it’s true that vinyl flooring typically has a lower initial cost than other resilient materials like rubber, its maintenance requirements may result in higher total life-cycle costs. Under heavy use, vinyl is not as durable as rubber flooring.
Rubber tiles and sheet goods are made from synthetic rubber, and come in ribbed, coin, or other raised patterns in a wide range of colors and styles. The "green" aspects of rubber include that it contains no PVCs and can be easily recycled. In fact, some rubber flooring materials are made by reclaiming our mountains of used automobile tires. Rubber is among the most cost-efficient materials for commercial flooring. It is extremely durable, fire code compliant, resists dents and stains, is quiet to walk on, and has a unique softness that gives ergonomic comfort, slip resistance, and noise absorption / sound deadening.
